Classes for Homeschoolers
Tuesday Classes is a tutorial service for homeschooled students. It is designed to give home schooling parents a place to delegate the teaching of a variety of core and elective classes for their children in grades 4 through 8. Students attend classes one day each week, and are given assignments to complete throughout the week. Parents contract directly with individual teachers and supervise their children’s work on a daily basis. This is an environment where instructors join with parents for the purpose of educating their children. We are not a school and there is no administration.
Each family is expected to volunteer one to two FULL days per school year (dependent upon how many children are enrolled and how many classes they are taking).
Students remaining on-site between classes have a quiet study area available, as well as a lunch/social area when it is not being used for classes. Students may remain on campus for only one study hall hour and one lunch hour between classes (non-consecutive). This helps us maintain order so that children do not have multiple hours of free time between classes and are not hanging around after their classes are concluded. We are not a childcare facility.
The coordinators for 2012-2013 are Leigh Ann Hicks and Patty Saunders. These volunteers plan the classes and schedule, manage insurance premiums and facility donations, oversee use of the building, and coordinate communication and registration.
